Nominations are being sought for the third Annual Scott Community Youth Volunteer Service Award.  This award has been established to recognize and honor individual youth who excel in volunteer service in Scott County.

The award is sponsored by The Scott County Partners for Youth Council, Inc. in cooperation with Scott County, the City of Scott City, USD 466 and the Chamber of Commerce.

Nominations may be submitted by Scott County organizations, churches, businesses or individuals.  Nominations made by family members (parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters) will not be accepted.  The award selection is based on volunteer work done between July 1, 2009 and July 1, 2010.

The winner will be recognized at the Scott County Free Fair.  Their name will be placed permanently on a plaque in the Scott County Courthouse.  Nominations will be judged on volunteer work only, doing service work for which the nominees are compensated for their time should not be included in the description of volunteer work.

The deadline for submitting nominations is Wednesday, July 14, 2010.  Nominations must be submitted in written form (no names phoned in).  For your convenience, nomination forms are available at City Hall, County Clerk's office in the Court House, Chamber of Commerce Office and at the Extension Office.  In addition to the form, two double spaced written pages may be included.  It is preferred that the nomination include an essay describing the individual's volunteer work as opposed to a list.  However, all applications will be reviewed.

Applications must be submitted by July 14, 2010.  They can be mailed to the Scott County Partners for Youth Council, 303 Court Street, Scott City, KS.  67871.
